RWNS Chairman inspects the Weaver Navigation
3rd April 2011
Even on one of his Big Birthdays, John Tackley, Chairman of the River Weaver Navigation Society took to skies to inspect the River Weaver Navigation and its environs.
Speaking after the half hour inspection visit, John said
"The River Weaver was looking well this morning and I was pleased to see walkers, cyclists, boaters, fishermen and even a couple on horseback enjoying the River Weaver and the lovely countryside we have here in the heart of Cheshire.
Whilst I must commend the local British Waterways's Management Team for the work they are completing on their limited budget, there is a still lot of outstanding work to be done.
The recent changes at British Waterways, as it heads towards charitable status, means that members of the River Weaver Navigation Society can now get now more actively involved with the management, maintenance and future of the River Weaver.
It is crying out for volunteers and it is great that British Waterways can now see that society members have a lot to contribute and have many resources at their disposal. "
