Northwich Flood Defences
30th October 2014

The Society have objected to the proposed Flood Defence Scheme for the banks of the River Dane and River Weaver in Northwich .....

The River Weaver Navigation Committee is very concerned that, primarily because of CURRENT poor and somewhat hazardous bank side moorings access alongside Weaver Way, it is not generally perceived that good accessible casual town centre moorings are paramount to the future growth and attractiveness of Northwich.

The current intended flood protection measures will completely isolate the quay alongside Weaver Way and make them unusable for visiting craft.

We have lodged a formal objection to these plans, as we wish to ensure full and attractive moorings accessibility, when bankside work alongside Weaver Way, not yet determined, is completed as part of the new Barons Quay development.

The Environment Agency are actively sympathetically considering our concerns, and we are hopeful that we can achieve a successful outcome.
