River Weaver Navigation Society was founded in 1997 and is dedicated to preserving, protecting and improving the River Weaver, from Winsford to its confluence with the Manchester Ship Canal. Committee members regularly attend meetings with navigation authorities, local government departments, and other waterways organisations.

How can YOU get involved?
As a member of RWNS, you can be involved in:
improving facilities
raising awareness
restoring structures
improving the environment
You will receive three newsletters a year and will meet people who know that working for the Weaver is exciting, rewarding and FUN!!

The River Weaver Navigation Society cares about:
People and Recreation: improving facilities for boaters, walkers, horse riders, cyclists and anglers.
History: preserving and protecting historical features; including locks, bridges and boatyards.
Wildlife: animals, birds, plants and trees all have their place in, on and around the river.

Are you are looking for a speaker for a meeting of your society or group?

We have a member who would be only too happy to help. Colin Edmondson has been researching the history of the Weaver and the local salt industry for the last ten years, in archives all over the country, and given the chance could talk for days!

To spare you this he has condensed all this information into a series of talks which can be tailored to your needs. All his talks are profusely illustrated with old and new photographs, maps and diagrams and delivered with the help of a digital projector. For more information see here.

Costs are reasonable and you can contact him directly on 07721 620747 or c.g.edmondson@vodafone.net
